NEW YORK, April 11. /TASS/. At least 146 mass shootings have occurred in the United States since January 1, the Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization, reported on its website.
According to the organization, nearly 5,000 people have lost their lives in gun violence incidents to date in the first four months of 2023, while about 9,000 have suffered injuries.
On Monday, four people were killed in a shooting at Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, after a 23-year-old employee, Connor Sturgeon, opened fire. Law enforcement officials said that Sturgeon was armed with an AR-15 rifle.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, shooting incidents claimed over 43,600 lives in 2022, while 37,900 people, including 4,400 children, sustained wounds. Over 1,600 kids were killed.
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
