MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Former US President Donald Trump slammed the charges pressed against him by a New York court as election meddling.

"And now this massive election interference of a scale never seen before in our country, beginning with the radical left George Soros-backed prosecutor Alvin Bragg [who led the case against Trump] of New York, who campaigned on the fact that he would ‘get’ President Trump," Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

"Incredibly, we are now a failing nation, a nation in decline," he continued. "And now these radical left lunatics want to interfere with our elections by using law enforcement. We can’t let that happen. With all of this being said, and with a very dark cloud above our beloved country, I have no doubt that we will make America great again."

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records of his company, the Trump Organization. According to prosecutors, the purported falsification was committed to conceal other unlawful action during the 2016 election campaign.
