GENICHESK, March 14. /TASS/. New turbines will be installed at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant once the facility’s safety is fully guaranteed, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo said in an interview with TASS.

"It’s intact and it only needs to be upgraded and perhaps its turbines need to be replaced. All of this can be done after full security is ensured. The facility plays an important role in recreational activities, agriculture, the energy sector and the tourism industry, so it will be restored in the same way as Mariupol," Saldo pointed out.

He specified that the hydropower plant’s dam was in satisfactory condition. According to Saldo, the plant’s turbines continue to operate in an autonomous mode.
