The opposition expresses concern about the arms deliveries and militaristic rhetoric of the country's leadership, bringing thousands to the streets in Chisinau

CHISINAU, March 13. /TASS/. Civic activists held a picket in front of the German embassy in Chisinau on Monday, demanding respect for the country's neutrality.

The activists carried a banner reading "Say no to war. Moldova is a neutral state."

"They got to the German embassy with a demand to respect Moldova's neutrality, to take away their armored vehicles. And, if they want to help, let them send tractors, seeding machines, greenhouses and school buses. All the things the Moldovan people need today," one of the protesters, Vyacheslav Valko, wrote in a comment on Facebook (a social media site banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta Corporation, which has been deemed extremist by Russia’s authorities).

Earlier, Germany supplied six Piranha armored personnel carriers to Moldova as military aid. In the first half of this year, the republic will receive a total of 19 combat vehicles, drones are also expected. The military aid to the republic was also announced by the US, the EU and NATO. According to the Defense Ministry, Moldova is already receiving small arms.

The opposition expresses concern about the arms deliveries and militaristic rhetoric of the country's leadership, bringing thousands to the streets in Chisinau. The leadership of unrecognized Transnistria, which conducts negotiations with Moldova on a peaceful settlement, believes that the strengthening of the Moldovan army does not contribute to dialogue.
