Georgia extradites to US Russian citizen FBI wants for cybercrimes

TBILISI, March 13. /TASS/. Georgia has extradited to the United States a Russian citizen wanted by the FBI for stealing money from US citizens using computer viruses, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday.
According to the news release, the Russian was detained in the Georgian city of Kobuleti on October 22, 2022. The decision to extradite him was taken by the Tbilisi City Court at the request of the prosecutor's office. An investigation conducted in the United States found that the Russian suspect in 2016-2019 used a computer virus he had created to obtain personal data of users in the United States. He also sold personal data and the virus itself to other persons on an internet platform. In all, according to the prosecutor's office, the hacker reportedly made about 1 million lari (about $370,000).
