NIZHNY NOVGOROD, March 2. /TASS/. Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov praised the heroic bravery of a boy who rescued two other children, leading them to safety, despite himself receiving wounds when saboteurs strafed a civilian automobile with gunfire in the Bryansk Region on Thursday.

"Regarding the situation in the Bryansk Region, [this was a case of] terrorists assaulting peaceful citizens and a car carrying children passengers. The terrorists could see that it was not a military vehicle. A ten-year-old child managed to get the other children out of harm’s way - which was a genuinely heroic feat," the minister stressed.

"There was no school bus, as the Ukrainian media had reported; it’s clear that they are trying to spread panic. Schools in the border areas operate remotely, and so there was no school bus at the scene," Kravtsov told reporters in Nizhny Novgorod on Thursday.

Earlier, Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that saboteurs had infiltrated the village of Lyubechane in the Klimovsk District, directly adjacent to the border with Ukraine. In the governor’s words, Ukrainian forces fired upon a vehicle, resulting in the death of one occupant of the car and the wounding of the ten-year-old child. Despite his wounds, the boy helped two other small children to escape from the vehicle and instructed them on where to hide. He is now in the hospital; his life is not in danger.

According to the latest information, another civilian, a man born in 1966, has died as a result of the attack, the governor reports.
