Putin extols Moscow’s 'bold' public transportation projects
It is noted that Moscow is tackling traffic better than other megalopolises at large
MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has given high marks to transportation projects in the national capital at a meeting with Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin on Tuesday.
"A bold development of Moscow, unequivocally bold," the head of state commented, having listened to a report on plans to complete the construction of the subway’s Big Circle Line and the development of Moscow Central Diameters [for commuter trains - TASS].
"Moscow is tackling traffic better than other megalopolises at large," President Putin said. "I recall just several years ago, actually recently, huge doubts were circulating as to whether Moscow would be able to support a normal flow [of vehicles], or normal traffic inside the city, inside urban areas. Certainly, this is a challenging task given the huge population and density, but Moscow, in general, manages to cope with it better than many other megalopolises worldwide," the Russian leader said. Huge efforts were made in each area presented by the mayor and "each of them is critical," Putin noted.
