New Russian regions to switch to Moscow time — Industry and Trade Ministry
A draft bill on the matter has already been submitted to the Russian government
MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russia's new regions - the DPR, the LPR, the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions - will switch to Moscow time, according to the official Telegram channel of the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry.
"A gradual synchronization of Russia’s legislation is underway following the accession of the four new subject entities. In the near future, the DPR, the LPR, the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions will join the second time zone where Moscow time is in effect," its statement said.
A draft bill on the matter has already been submitted to the Russian government.
"To reiterate, previously, all four regions followed Kiev time, UTC+2 (one hour behind Moscow) and UTC+3 in summer. Currently, Moscow time is de facto in effect in the new regions while the new draft bill enshrines this normatively," the statement noted.
On October 5, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the accession to Russia of the DPR, the LPR, the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions. From September 23 to September 27 these regions held a referendum on joining Russia.
