HAIKOU /China/, January 5. /TASS/. Hainan province held China Public Diplomacy Forum in Sanya city, dedicated to foreign policy issues and topical problems of international relations development. This was reported by China News Service.

According to the article, the conference was held in Sanya as well as in Beijing and in two Malaysian cities, Kuala Lumpur and Malacca at the same time, in a face-to-face and online format. One of the key topics of the event was the promotion of One Belt, One Road initiative projects.

During the forum, Chinese cities taking the most active part in the implementation of this concept were named. According to the research they were Beijing, Shanghai, South Guangzhou, Nanjing and Ningbo (East of China), Shenzhen (South), Shenyang (Northeast), Alashankou (North-West) and Hangzhou (East).

The forum was organized by the Sanya Public Diplomacy Institute, China Story Data Bank, China-ASEAN Trade and Industry Association and Maliujia Zhichuang (Window to Malacca). The participants discussed not only diplomatic issues, but also economic issues, the features and prospects of international cooperation in science and technology, education.

At the conference, Secretary General of the Institute for Public Diplomacy Sanya Sun Zhigo stressed that the key task of cooperation between the forum participants is to create a theoretical basis for solving the urgent practical problems and the settlement of systematic theoretical issues in practice. As he noted, this process requires active interaction between different sectors of society.

Hainan frequently hosts events aimed at strengthening cultural and humanitarian contacts between China and other countries and laying the foundation for mutually beneficial international projects. The most famous of them is the Boao Forum for Asia (east coast of the island), which annually brings together leading experts, business representatives, politicians and public figures from all over China and from many countries, including Russia.
