SANYA /China/, December 19. /TASS/. Representatives of the TV and film industries formulated and signed a joint proposal on Monday in the city of Sanya in southern China's Hainan province to protect digital content copyrights. The signing took place within the framework of an international forum on digital content copyright management in film and television, held at the highest level as part of the program of the 4th Hainan International Film Festival in Sanya.

The document is titled Joint Proposal to Promote ChinaDRM Digital Copyright Protection in the Film and Television Industry. More than 10 industry representatives signed it.

The initiative aims to promote ChinaDRM digital copyright protection, an independent and innovative standard that has been established by China during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). The document proposes to respect and comply with the provisions of the "Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China" as well as all related laws and regulations.

The entire society, it said, must respect the legitimate rights and interests of all parties in the creation, distribution, and service of film and television content. Industry representatives also called for the mandatory implementation of ChinaDRM, a digital copyright protection standard for film and television. All online distributors of relevant digital content should publish it through channels and terminals that comply with the ChinaDRM standard. The industry representatives also advocated jointly combating commercial piracy on the Internet and ensuring a favorable environment for the development of the film and television industry.

Speaking at the forum, Feng Wei, Vice President (Asia Pacific) and President (Greater China) of the American Film Association, said the signed proposals are important to jointly promote the healthy development of digital copyrights in film and television, as well as to create a healthy copyright ecosystem.
