HAIKOU /China/, November 17. /TASS/. The organizers of the 4th Hainan International Film Festival (HIFF) have published the official poster of this year's screenings. The poster titled "Light" has been published on the event's official page on the WeChat social network.

It is dominated by the color orange. Against a background of low hills under a palm tree, it shows a man pointing a beam of light upwards. The illuminated part of the sky is stylized as a movie reel. The slogan of the poster is "Born into the light and moving with the shadows".

As the HIFF organizing committee commented, the poster visually "captures in color the essence of the three festivals that preceded it." "The light of the film industry and Hainan merged into one, illuminating the sky and igniting dreams," says the distributed message.

The 4th Hainan Film Festival in the resort town of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island will be held December 3 to 10. Organizers accepted more than 3.7 thousand applications for screenings of films from 116 countries.

The main competition program will include 12 feature films, 8 documentaries and 12 short films. The festival's Golden Coconut grand prize will be awarded in categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Special Jury Prize, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Technology, Best Documentary and Best Short Film.

HIFF is recognized as one of the four key film festivals in the PRC and was held for the first time in December 2018. World-renowned actors and directors such as Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Johnny Depp, and Nuri Bilge Ceylan have participated. Last year's event was scheduled for December 5-12, but did not take place due to the pandemic.
