Minister reveals would-be school shootings thwarted in nine Russian regions

Vladimir Kolokoltsev emphasized that right now it is necessary to establish a procedure for transmitting information about mentally ill people not only between law enforcement agencies, but also to health services

MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs prevented would-be attacks targeting schools in nine regions this year, the ministry’s head Vladimir Kolokoltsev said during his speech to the Federation Council on Wednesday.

"I would like to focus separately on the school shooting incidents," Kolokoltsev stressed.

"This year, in nine regions, they [the plotted attacks] were suppressed at the preparation stage. However, as you know, tragic events have occurred," he noted.

Likewise, he emphasized that right now it is necessary to establish a procedure for transmitting information about mentally ill people not only between law enforcement agencies, but also to health services. "Any failure in this chain is rife with tragic consequences," the minister stressed.
