FSB detains saboteurs who plotted terrorist attacks on Kherson Region officials
An investigative unit opened a case under Article 361 of the Russian Criminal Code
MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained nine members of the Ukrainian Security Service’s (SBU) sabotage and reconnaissance group in the Kherson Region who planned to carry out a terrorist attack on high-ranking members of the regional military-civilian administration, the FSB said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The Federal Security Service in the Kherson Region uncovered and suppressed the activities of an SBU sabotage and reconnaissance group that had been tasked with carrying out terrorist attacks on high-ranking members of the Kherson Region’s military-civilian administration. Nine Ukrainian citizens were identified and detained, while their supervisors - SBU employees Samir Shukyurov, Viktor Khomyak and Dmitry Sidei - are hiding outside Russia," the statement read.
Over five kilograms of plastic explosives, electric detonators, actuating devices, three ready-to-use homemade bombs, grenades, small arms and ammunition, as well as special surveillance tools, were seized from the detained.
"A booby-trapped car was found and deactivated, which the saboteurs had planned to use in an attack on administration officials," the FSB said.
An investigative unit opened a case under Article 361 of the Russian Criminal Code (an act of international terrorism). The defendants were taken into custody.
