It is noted that volunteers from the United Russia humanitarian mission helped evacuate a former student from Cameroon to Dzankhoy

GENICHESK /Kherson Region/, November 7. /TASS/. Due to constant shelling by Ukraine’s armed forces, civilians have been leaving Kherson. Most do so on their own, while people with limited mobility are helped by volunteers.

An organized evacuation from the right-bank part of the Kherson region lasted three weeks and ended today. For security reasons, the authorities decided to temporarily stop traffic across the Dnieper, but those who wish can cross to the left bank of the Dnieper by boat. Barges continue to ferry motor vehicles across.

To other places in Kherson Region or other cities

A retiree from Kherson, who introduced himself by his first and middle name - Alexey Vladimirovich, told TASS that he decided to leave after shelling by the Ukrainian military and terrorist attacks by Ukrainian saboteurs, who caused a power outage and disrupted the water supply in the region’s capital and nine other communities a day ago.

"I decided to leave, because the right bank is an unsafe place," he told a TASS correspondent, adding that some pensioners ignored the authorities’ recommendations and refused to leave the danger zone, their main argument being they had lived there for a long time.

Many other locals preferred to be taken to safety: some, like Alexey Vladimirovich, will remain in the same region, while others go to neighboring areas of Russia, such as Crimea or the Krasnodar Territory.

"When we were at the border, volunteers came up to us to offer us something to eat - coffee, tea, sandwiches, beef stew and cereal, and a slice of casserole. Everything was freshly-cooked, warm, very tasty and free. At the railway station in Dzhankoy, they gave us SIM-cards," a female resident of Malokakhovka told reporters, adding that she was on the way to Tuapse, a health resort on the Black Sea.

Volunteers from the United Russia humanitarian mission helped evacuate a former student from Cameroon to Dzankhoy, who several years ago came to Kherson to study at a local university, but injured his spine in an accident and is now bedridden.

"Now I need a medical examination. Perhaps in Moscow. I am glad that I am leaving," the Cameroonian told reporters.

In the meantime, life in other cities of the region, for example in the resort of Genichesk, proceeds as usual. The only sign indicating that an evacuation is underway is most sanatoriums and boarding houses are still open during the off-season - as accommodation centers for the evacuees.
