Wikimedia fined for refusing to delete false information on Russia’s operation in Ukraine

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. A Moscow magistrate court fined Wikipedia’s owner the Wikimedia Foundation two mln rubles ($32,600) for refusing to delete false information about Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
"The court found the Wikimedia organization guilty under Article 13.41.2 of the Russian Administrative Code (refusal to delete information banned in Russia) and fined it two mln rubles," a court official said.
The articles in question were titled "On the non-violent resistance of Ukraine's civilian population in the course of Russia's invasion" and "Evaluations of Russia's invasion of Ukraine". According to the case files, the prosecution ordered Wikimedia to remove the articles but it was not done so Russia’s telecom watchdog drew up an administrative protocol against Wikimedia.
Wikimedia was earlier fined three mln rubles ($48,900) for publishing false information about the actions of Russian troops in Ukraine and another two mln rubles for spreading information about ways to produce gunpowder. That said, the total amount of fines imposed on the organization in Russia has reached seven mln rubles ($114,000).
