Daily cases started to gradually decline in mid-September, Vladimir Chulanov said
MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. The COVID-19 epidemiological situation in Russia has stabilized by now, the lead infectious diseases specialist of the Russian Health Ministry, Vladimir Chulanov, has told reporters.
"At present, the COVID-19 epidemiological situation has stabilized. We see that daily cases started to gradually decline in mid-September. This trend is a result of a certain degree of herd immunity that the population has acquired both through vaccination and during past outbreaks," he said.
The expert reiterated that the elderly people and patients with chronic conditions are more likely to develop a severe form of the virus, and called upon them to vaccinate in time.
