US humanitarian aid seeks to further destabilize Syria — official
According to Oleg Gorshenin, this US initiative seeks to maintain instability in the Syrian Arab Republic in order to continue stealing its natural resources
MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Maintaining instability in Syria to further plunder its natural resources is the true aim of the US’ humanitarian aid for the Syrians, says Oleg Gorshenin, head of the Russian Inter-agency coordination headquarters on repatriation of Syrian refugees.
"We are concerned over Washington’s cynical decision to allocate, supposedly for the needs of the Syrian people, $756 million with which it plans to provide selective humanitarian aid to residents of Syrian territories not controlled by the Syrian government," Gorshenin said during the joint meeting of Syrian and Russian Inter-agency headquarters Thursday.
The Russian official underscored that such humanitarian aid does reach ordinary citizens, but it is being handed over for further redistribution to the heads of local communities and settlements, who have mostly been appointed by militias and appropriate everything for themselves.
According to Gorshenin, this US initiative seeks to maintain instability in the Syrian Arab Republic in order to continue stealing its natural resources.
"This so-called aid only prolongs the crisis in Syria and prevents the resumption of peaceful life, because it does not satisfy the needs of all Syrians in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution.".
