Moscow court slaps TikTok with $50,943 fine for refusal to remove LGBT propaganda
It is reported that this protocol was drafted following a statement by the Federal Youth Agency and the Russian media watchdog
MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. A Moscow court fined TikTok service 3 million rubles ($50,943) for pushing LGBT propaganda to minors, a TASS correspondent reported from the courtroom of the Peace of Court Section No. 422 in Moscow, which considered the case about the administrative offense.
"The court found TikTok guilty under Part 2 of Art. 13.41 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (failure of the owner of a website to delete information if the obligation to delete such information is included in the legislation of the Russian Federation) and imposed a fine of 3 million rubles," judge Timur Vakhrameev announced.
As it became known from evidence presented in court, the reason for this decision was a report from the Russian media watchdog, drawn up for promoting the LGBT movement, radical feminism and a distorted view of traditional sexual relations.
This protocol was drafted following a statement by the Federal Youth Agency and the Russian media watchdog. The two agencies later made their statement on February 10, a video was posted on TikTok in which the author talks about teaching English through gender, and also forms a distorted view of non-traditional sexual relations.
Since 2021, TikTok has been fined a total amount of more than 11 million rubles ($186,494) for refusing to remove prohibited information.
Since February, the Russian media watchdog has been compiling administrative reports in relation to social networks and instant messengers that have not removed calls to participate in unauthorized actions. Since the beginning of the year, a number of websites have been repeatedly taken to court for violating Russian law after refusing to remove prohibited content. For example, Telegram was fined 11 million rubles ($186,494) for refusing to remove prohibited information, including instructions for committing sabotage.
