BUCHAREST, July 4. /TASS/. The Romanian Foreign Ministry on Sunday confirmed that a Romanian woman was killed in Egypt as a result of a shark attack.
The ministry said in a statement that a travel company representative on July 3 informed the country's embassy in Cairo about the death of a Romanian citizen who was vacationing in Hurghada. "According to the information provided by the competent Egyptian authorities, an investigation found that the death of a Romanian citizen was caused by a shark attack," the ministry said.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the body of a Romanian tourist in her 40s or 50s was found hours after a similar shark attack killed a 68-year-old Austrian woman on Friday. Both incidents took place about 600 meters apart in the Sahl Hasheesh Bay.
