Sputnik V’s safety and efficacy proved by clinical trials — Russian health ministry
The vaccine was registered in Russia on August 11, 2020
MOSCOW, June 20. /TASS/. The Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine has undergone all stages on clinical trials and has proved its high safety and efficacy, a Russian health ministry official said on Monday, commenting on allegations that the vaccine has not been put on the national immunization protocol due to the lack of integrated test data.
Alexey Kurinny, a deputy chair of the health committee of the Russian State Duma (lower parliament house), told the Radiotochka NSN Telegram channel earlier that Sputnik V has not been entered into the immunization protocol because of people’s mistrust and the lack of integrated test result data.
"The Sputnik V vaccine has undergone all stages of trials and demonstrated the highest safety and efficacy. Based on the results of trials, the vaccine was granted permanent state registration this winter," aide to Russian Health Minister Alexey Kuztensov told TASS.
Sputnik V was registered in Russia on August 11, 2020, to become the world’s first officially recognized coronavirus vaccine. By today, it has been approved in 71 world nations.
Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum last week that the issue of putting vaccination against the coronavirus infection into the national immunization protocol is being discussed but there are some nuances. In particular, it is necessary to understand further development of the epidemic process.
Murashko said on February 4 that Sputnik V had been granted permanent registration in Russia.
