Russian adventurer sets new world record for nonstop flight on paramotor, his son says
The previous world record was set by Polish pilot Krzysztof Romicki in 2018
VOLOGDA, June 8. /TASS/. World-renowned Russian wayfarer Fyodor Konyukhov and pilot Igor Potapkin flew 631.2 kilometers on a paramotor in a straight path without landing, beating the previous record of 204.2 kilometers in a nonstop flight on June 8, the head of the expedition and the son of the adventurer Oskar Konyukhov told TASS.
"Wayfarer Fyodor Konyukhov and internationally-recognized master of sports Igor Potapkin set a new world record for a nonstop flight on a paramotor, covering a distance of 631.2 km in 7 hours and 52 minutes," he said.
The previous world record was set by Polish pilot Krzysztof Romicki, who flew 427 kilometers on the Krakov-Zakrzewo route in 2018. Konyukhov and Potapkin are getting ready for a new record flight, this time from the White to the Black Sea - from Arkhangelsk to Novorossiysk. They intend to cover the distance of 3,000 kilometers within two-and-a-half weeks on a two-seater paramotor. The flight is designed to be made under various meteorological conditions, at an altitude between ten meters to two kilometers, depending on the wind.
The flight is organized in support of the federal environmental project Clean Arctic. The entire trip may be tracked through the website and the telegram channel of Fyodor Konyukhov.
