SEVEROMORSK, June 1. /TASS/. Russia plans to build two and reconstruct seven airstrips in the Northern Fleet area of responsibility in the Arctic before 2030, Northern Fleet commander Admiral Alexander Moiseyev said Wednesday.

"The development and construction of airstrip network in the Arctic area continues. The development plan for the network until 2030 includes construction of two [airstrips] in Nagurskoye and Temp, as well as reconstruction of seven airstrips in Severomorsk-1, Severomorsk-2, Severomorsk-3, Rogachevo, Talagi and Kipelovo, including one hydro airstrip in Safonovo," he said.

According to Moiseyev, the construction of airstrips in Nagurskoye and Temp will make it possible to accept all types of long-range, transport and naval aviation planes, which will aid, among other things, in delivery of weapons and various cargoes to Arctic archipelagos.
