Dozhd disseminated false information about Russian army’s losses in Ukraine — court
It is also noted that the information published by Dozhd spreads panic among people, creates preconditions for mass violations of public order and public safety
MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) disseminated false information about Russian Armed Forces’ losses during the special operation in Ukraine and civilian casualties, the court's decision on the lawsuit to block the channel's website, the text of which was reviewed by TASS, stated.
"The Dozhd media outlet has purposefully and systematically put up on its TV channel materials containing false information regarding the essence of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, its forms, methods of combat operations, quantitative human losses of the Russian Armed Forces, shellings and civilian casualties, as well as containing calls to organize public events in Russia," the document said.
It also noted that the information published by Dozhd spreads panic among people, creates preconditions for mass violations of public order and public safety, and also contains calls to participate in mass public events in violation of the requirements of the current legislation.
"In confirmation of the above circumstances, a representative of Russia’s General Prosecutor's Office included in the case file screenshots of [Dozhd’s] Internet pages," the court's decision reads.
Earlier, Dozhd's website was blocked by Russia's mass media and communications watchdog (Roskomnadzor) at the request of Russia’s Prosecutor General's Office. The TV channel's management slammed such a move as illegal and unreasonable, filing a lawsuit to cancel it. However, Moscow’s Tverskoy Court ruled that the decision to block Dozhd's website was legal.
