Russian Justice Ministry lists Khodorkovsky, Kasparov as foreign agents
The reason for including Khodorkovsky on the list was given as "political activity" and foreign sources were indicated as "Ukraine"
MOSCOW, May 21 /TASS/. The Russian Justice Ministry listed former Yukoc CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky and chess player Garry Kasparov as foreign agents, data on the ministry’s website showed on Friday.
The reason for including Khodorkovsky on the list was given as "political activity" and foreign sources were indicated as "Ukraine." Kasparov was also included for "political activity" while foreign sources were indicated as "Ukraine" and "Human Rights Foundation (the USA)."
According to legislation from December 2020, an individual may be designated as a foreign agent in the event if he is engaged in political activity in Russia or gathering information of military nature about Russia while being under the influence of a foreign source or Russian citizens or entities that act on behalf of a foreign source, which is manifested in the support of these activities (including provision of funds or other assistance).
