MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/. Russia shuts down the Moscow office of Canada’s CBC broadcasting corporation as a reciprocal measure, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced Wednesday.

"A decision was made to introduce reciprocal measures to Canada’s actions, those being: shutdown of the Moscow office of Canada’s CBC broadcasting corporation, including invalidation of accreditation and Russian visas of its reporters," she said.

The spokeswoman underscored that the official Ottawa has embarked on a "blatantly Russophobic course." According to Zakharova, Canada’s ban for broadcasting of Russia’s RT and RT France TV channels is a shining example. She warned that Russia will "always provide an adequate response" to such unilateral restrictive measures that violate the freedom of speech.

"Our reaction is unavoidable and will be provided to every similar case," she concluded.
