Another fine imposed on Radio Liberty for non-removal of prohibited content
Earlier, a fine of 45.8 million rubles was imposed on the radio station under 50 protocols
MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. A Moscow justice court has ruled to impose another fine of ten million rubles (some 152,600 US dollars) on Radio Liberty (recognized as a foreign agency mass media) for its refusal to remove prohibited content, including fakes about the special military operation in Ukraine.
The overall sum of fines has reached 55.8 million rubles (839,370 US dollars).
"Judicial district No423 of the Moscow Tverskoy district justice court considered ten protocols against Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe under part 2, article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offences (non-removal of information by a website owner). A fine of ten million rubles was levied," the press service of the Tverskoy district court told TASS.
In all, the court received 60 protocols, with a maximal possible fine of 240 million rubles (3.671 million US dollars). A fine of 45.8 million rubles (700,570 US dollars) was imposed on the radio station earlier under 50 protocols.
Russia’s mass media and communications watchdog restricted access to Radio Liberty’s and BBC’s websites in early March for calls for mass disorders, extremism and illegal rallies.
