MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/. Work to restore the Rutube video platform service after a cyberattack is in its final stage, a top Russian lawmaker said on Wednesday.

"Rutube will get back online later today: work to repair the service is in its final stage. Experts from one of Russia’s best cybersecurity companies have been involved in the efforts to undo the damage caused by the attack," Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the State Duma Informational Policy Committee, wrote on his Telgram channel.

Gorelkin also said he expected the video hosting platform "will have a major review of its infrastructure protection policies." "We need a strong nation-wide video hosting platform," he added.

On May 9, Rutube suffered "the most powerful cyber attack" in the platform’s history, its press service told TASS. Rutube’s technical engineers have confirmed that third parties have failed to gain access to its video archives. The entire library, including the users’ content, remains safe, and the source code is intact.

More than 75% of the website’s databases and infrastructure in its master version and 90% of its backup copies and database restoration clusters was affected by the attack, Rutube’s press service reported. The cause of the incident remains unknown.
