Massive Immortal Regiment march held in Serbian capital

BELGRADE, May 9. /TASS/. A numerous procession to celebrate the May 9 Victory Day took place in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.

A column of participants in the Immortal Regiment march to commemorate those who fought and died during WWII started at 10:15 local time from the monuments to Vuk Karadzic and Alexander Pushkin. The procession moved towards the Liberators of Belgrade Memorial Park. People sang the famous Russian songs 'Day of Victory' and 'Katyusha,' chanted ‘Hurrah!’ and carried the portraits of their relatives who had fought during the Soviet Union’s 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany.

The column was led by Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Serbian Minister of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic, representatives of the Russian Science and Culture Center (the Russian House) and members of public organizations.
