Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out that political games around language problems can lead to irreversible consequences

NUR-SULTAN, April 29. /TASS/. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the Kazakh language must be promoted, but the position of other languages, including the Russian language, must not be infringed upon.

"The state language of our country is the Kazakh language, but the Russian language also has a proper place in the constitution of our country, so let us proceed from this," he said on Friday during a session of The Council of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan (APK).

Tokayev pointed out that political games around language problems can lead to irreversible consequences. "There are many examples of this today on the international stage. Therefore, let’s be responsible in our domestic politics," the president emphasized.

The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan is a consultative and advisory body under the president of the republic. The assembly’s main tasks are the implementation of national policy, ensuring social and political stability in Kazakhstan and increasing the effectiveness of interaction between state and civil institutions in the sphere of inter-ethnic relations.
