Russian health ministry plans to define depression, mental disorder after COVID-19

Earlier, it was reported that senators together with the ministry would consider the possibility of putting mental health intake to the list of free services as part of in-depth post-COVID-19 checkup

MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Russia’s Health Ministry plans to develop recommendations for physicians on defining mental or behavioral disorder among patients as part of post-COVID-19 checkup, according to the official reply (obtained by TASS) of the ministry to the request made by the head of the Federation Council’s social policy committee Inna Svyatenko.

Earlier, Svyatenko told TASS that senators together with the ministry would consider the possibility of putting mental health intake to the list of free services as part of in-depth post-COVID-19 checkup, particularly for preventing the development of depression and loss of memory.

"A note will be drafted for citizens who have had the novel coronavirus infection, on the possibility of negative influence of this infection on mental health and the signs highlighting the possible development of psychological disorder and the necessity of health encounter, as well as guidelines on defining signs of mental disorder among citizens after the novel coronavirus infection for medical specialists participating in checkup and preventive medical examination," the ministry said.
