Four civilians suffer wounds in Ukrainian shelling in past day — DPR mission

The attacks involved rocket and cannon artillery, as well as heavy mortars, the Ukrainian military fired a total of 190 munitions

DONETSK, April 20. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) 32 times in the past 24 hours, leaving four civilians wounded, the DPR mission to the Joint Center for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) said in a statement on Telegram on Wednesday.

"The mission recorded 32 Ukrainian attacks in the past 24 hours," the statement reads. "Reports of four wounded civilians were received in the past day," the mission added.

The attacks involved rocket and cannon artillery, as well as heavy mortars, the Ukrainian military fired a total of 190 munitions. The cities of Donetsk, Yasinovataya and Gorlovka, as well as the Ozeryanovka, Zaitsevo and Panteleimonovka settlements, came under fire. Five homes and two civilian infrastructure facilities suffered damage.

Tensions escalated along the line of contact in Donbass on February 17. The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics reported the heaviest shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in months. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics within the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions as they were at the beginning of 2014, based on the DPR and LPR constitutions. On February 24, Putin announced a special military operation based on a request from the heads of the Donbass republics in order to demilitarize and denazify the country.
