Students from unfriendly countries not to be expelled from MGIMO - rector
We have always treated our foreign students with big respect and care, no matter which country they come from, Anatoly Torkunov said
MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Russia’s MGIMO University will not expel students from unfriendly countries, MGIMO rector, Anatoly Torkunov, said in an interview with TASS ahead of a conference on digital international relations.
When asked whether MGIMO is planning to expel students from EU countries in response to their states’ unfriendly steps against Russia, he said, "We have always treated our foreign students with big respect and care, no matter which country they come from."
"They are not guests, they are members of the MGIMO family and can always count on their alma mater’s support. I am sure that the nationality of this or than country cannot be a reason for an expulsion of discrimination in any other format," he stressed.
Russia’s MGIMO-University is ready to admit students, both Russian and foreign nationals, who want to transfer from foreign universities amid the anti-Russian sanctions, MGIMO’s rector, Anatoly Torkunov, said in an interview with TASS.
"MGIMO is ready to admit, in the shortest possible terms, students, both Russian nationals and citizens of other countries, who want to transfer from foreign universities due to the anti-Russian sanctions. These students will be transferred on the same terms they were studying at foreign universities, including the format of classes, the course and line of training," he said.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a government resolution allowing Russian students expelled from European universities to continue training at Russian higher education establishments free of charge.
