Russian parliament speaker slams US over blocking of State Duma’s YouTube channel

According to Volodin, the US wants American IT companies that own social media networks to join its information war against Russia

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. YouTube’s move to block the channel of Russia’s State Duma (the lower house of parliament) proves the United States’ involvement in violations of rights and freedoms, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on Telegram on Saturday.

"It is another proof of Washington’s violation of rights and freedoms," he pointed out.

According to Volodin, the US wants American IT companies that own social media networks to join its information war against Russia. "Washington is ignoring all the principles of democracy to make sure that all platforms, including YouTube, present only the US position. The United States seeks a monopoly on information but we can’t have that," the Russian parliament speaker stressed.
