Putin bids final farewell to late firebrand veteran politician
Vladimir Zhirinovsky passed away on Wednesday at the age of 75
MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has bid his final farewell to Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the LDPR party and member of all convocations of the State Duma (the lower house of parliament).
The president earlier sent his condolences to the late lawmaker’s family members and associates. Putin pointed out that "Vladimir Zhirinovsky was an experienced politician, an energetic person open to communication, a bright speaker and polemist." According to the head of state, Zhirinovsky did a lot for the establishing and bolstering Russian parliamentarism and domestic legislation, and sincerely sought to contribute to achieving crucial national goals.
Zhirinovsky’s funeral service was conducted by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior earlier on Friday. A civil funeral ceremony is taking place in the Column Hall of the House of Unions. Once it is over, the politician will be buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery.
