Crimea to take stock of Zelensky’s property for nationalization
It is stated that there is an apartment that belongs to Vladimir Zelensky
SIMFEROPOL, April 6. /TASS/. Crimea’s authorities will conduct an official inventory involving experts to estimate the cost of property owned by Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs, which is slated to be nationalized on the peninsula, Yefim Fiks, first deputy speaker of the Crimean parliament, told TASS on Wednesday.
"There is an apartment that belongs to Zelensky. We understand that he is a public figure. But we have to find out who is registered as the owner; we have to deal with everything. Experts will take a look [at the cost]. At present, some say [the price tag is] about one billion, others say about 100 million, so there should be an official estimate and an official position of the commission that will be addressing that," Fiks said.
The lawmaker pointed out that prior to nationalization, the State Duma (the lower house) should pass amendments to Russia’s Civil Code. Along with that, Crimea intends to consider the owners’ positions, when designating the property subject to nationalization.
"It will be analyzed. So, if they make a profit from their property in Crimea or funnel the income to fund Bandera gangs, that’s one story, or if they make political statements against Russia and Crimea, that’s another story, or if they make a profit but finance nothing except their family, then this is a third story," Fiks specified.
"The commission will sort it out and will take a decision on each owner. Next, a list of objects subject to nationalization will be drawn up. We must not act the way ‘enlightened’ Europe has by simply grabbing the assets of our Central Bank and saying there are under arrest. We cannot do so, because we are civilized people after all," Fiks added.
On March 23, Crimean leader Sergey Aksyonov said that his region would soon begin to nationalize the property of Ukrainian nationalists who support the Kiev regime. It is known that the family of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as well as some Ukrainian oligarchs own real estate in Crimea. Aksyonov explained that the procedure would not affect ordinary Ukrainians.
