Developers unveil pilot version of Russian alternative to Instagram

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. A pilot version of Rossgram, a Russian alternative to Instagram (an Internet platform banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta corporation deemed extremist by the country’s authorities), has been unveiled by developers, according to a video presentation available on Rossgram’s Telegram channel.

Rossgram users will be able to upload photos and videos from their smartphones, as well as videos from other platforms such as YouTube, Dailymotion and Vimeo. It will also be possible to post stories.

The project’s official community announced earlier that the platform with all the familiar features and tools would be launched for top bloggers and investors on March 28 and would be accessible to ordinary users in April. Developers explained on March 27 that the company was processing requests from users and partners, filed through the Rossgram.ru website, and would announce the launch of the first phase additionally.

According to developers, Rossgram will get additional monetization tools, including paid content, fundraising and referral programs. Work is also underway on the option to ensure transfer of media files and data from Instagram.
