MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. The humanitarian situation is catastrophic across almost entire Ukraine: humanitarian catastrophe is looming in Kiev, Mariupol, Kharkov and Sumy, says Russian National Defense Control Center head Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev.

"The reason for the emergency meeting is the already emerged humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol, a city with population of half a million people, and the looming humanitarian catastrophe in Kiev with population of about 3 million people, Kharkov with a population of up to 1.5 million people, in Suma with a population of up to 300,000 people, as well as in a number of other settlements," Mizintsev said at the emergency meeting of the inter-agency coordination center for humanitarian response.

The military official noted that "Nazis block tens of thousands of Ukrainian people and bar them from leaving to safety in Kiev, Kharkov, Sumy, Odessa and Mariupol, as well as in at least 20 major settlements of Ukraine."
