Most coronavirus cases among Putin’s contacts are people who maintain his work activities

"Indeed, someone was infected and since members of the maintenance teams communicate with one another, a large number of people got infected," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. Most coronavirus cases among Russian President Vladimir Putin’s contacts are people who maintain his work activities and ensure his security, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"Most of them are those who are involved in maintaining the head of state’s work activities, everyday life and security," he said.

The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that "quite a lot of people are involved" in this work. "Indeed, someone was infected and since members of the maintenance teams communicate with one another, a large number of people got infected," Peskov concluded, adding that despite a rise in coronavirus cases, there were enough staff members to maintain the president’s work activities.

Putin announced on Tuesday that he would have to self-isolate after being in contact with people who had contracted coronavirus. He specified on Thursday that not just one or two but several dozen people in his inner circle had come down with the virus.
