Terrorists cyberattacks can lead to interstate conflicts — FSB Director
Alexander Bortnikov called for expanding the negotiation process in order to harmonize international legal norms in the field of information security under the auspices of the United Nations
MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Director of Russia's Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov called for international cooperation to create safe cyberspace, warning that terrorist cyberattacks could lead to interstate conflicts.
"We do not rule out that terrorists may carry out cyberattacks on critical information infrastructure. In this regard, we see a particular danger in the difficulty of timely identification of the true source of the attack and the possibility of provoking acute interstate conflicts," Bortnikov said on Wednesday.
"We believe that it is impossible to solve this global problem without involving the entire world community," he stressed.
Bortnikov called for expanding the negotiation process in order to harmonize international legal norms in the field of information security under the auspices of the United Nations. "We are ready for a dialogue with all partners who wish to create a secure cyberspace," he said.
