International terrorism fully eradicated in Chechnya, Kadyrov claims
Ramzan Kadyrov added that, compared to 2020, the region displays positive dynamics on the main social and economic indicators
NOVO-OGARYOVO, June 23. /TASS/. International terrorism has been completely eradicated in Chechnya, the republic’s head Ramzan Kadyrov told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a video call Wednesday.
"Under your order and with your personal participation, we have completely and forever eradicated the international terrorism in the Chechen Republic. Today, the matters of security stopped being pressing - now, the main issues are the issues of development of the economy and the social sphere," Kadyrov said.
He added that, compared to 2020, the region displays positive dynamics on the main social and economic indicators; the national projects’ goals and indicators are also being achieved, the governor said.
Vladimir Putin suggested that Kadyrov should once again run for the governor’s office during the September 19 elections this year.
Kadyrov, 44, is one of Russia’s longest-serving governors, leading Chechnya for over 14 years. During the 2016 regional elections, Kadyrov set an absolute record, winning over 97% of the votes.
Earlier, Kadyrov said he would make the final decision on participation in the elections after he examines the public opinion. On Wednesday, the Universal Congress of the peoples of Chechnya adopted a resolution asking Kadyrov to participate in elections again.
