Possible Covid vaccine shortage in Russia to be replenished shortly — Kremlin spokesman

According to the spokesman, vaccine shortages could be caused by temporary logistics issues and an increased demand for the vaccine

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Russia produces enough Covid-19 vaccines, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday, adding that possible shortages in the regions will be replenished shortly.

"I believe that this will be compensated in the upcoming days, and there will be enough vaccine for the public, as it has been during all previous months," the spokesman said, commenting on reports about vaccine shortage in the regions.

Peskov believes that "there are no problems" in this field, "because the production is established."

"Enough vaccine is being produced for domestic consumption," the spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, vaccine shortages could be caused by temporary logistics issues and an increased demand for the vaccine. Peskov explained that the "overall rate of the vaccination" has changed, as previously it "left much to be desired."

"Due to the increased awareness of our citizens due to another coronavirus wave — rather strong and very dangerous one — due to the increased informational and educational work, the number of vaccination applicants has increased significantly," Peskov noted.

Meanwhile, the vaccines require specific storage conditions, which make it impossible to stockpile them in large volumes.
