Moscow, Baku in substantive talks on Sputnik V production in Azerbaijan - Lavrov

Right the other day, the first batch of Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Azerbaijan, Russian Foreign Minister said

BAKU, May 10. /TASS/. Russia and Azerbaijan hold meaningful talks on the production of Sputnik V vaccine in that country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on Monday.

"Our corresponding agencies are engaged in a detailed conversation to roll out the production of this vaccine in Azerbaijan," Lavrov said.

"I would like to emphasize out sincere desire to ensure more effective cooperation to combat the coronavirus infections. Right the other day, the first batch of Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Azerbaijan. This month we are expecting a much larger shipment," the Russian foreign minister said.

To date, the Russian Sputnik V vaccine has been approved for use by 61 counties with a cumulative population of over three billion. It showed efficacy of 97.6% based on the analysis of the data on COVID-19 cases among the Russians who received both doses of the vaccine between December 5, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
