Russia’s vaccine deliveries to Argentina to boost bilateral cooperation - envoy

Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov also informed that currently, a government delegation from Argentina is in Moscow in order to approve further deliveries of the Russian vaccine to the country

BUENOS AIRES, February 25. /TASS/. The deliveries of Russian COVID-19 vaccines to Argentina will boost bilateral cooperation in other spheres as well, Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov said during a visit to a vaccination center in the city of Jose Clemente Paz on Wednesday.

"We believe that vaccine cooperation will allow us to boost cooperation in the sphere of politics, security, social-economic issues, trade, culture and medicine. Russia is a reliable friend that does not abandon its friend in need," the ambassador said.

He also informed that currently, a government delegation from Argentina is in Moscow in order to approve further deliveries of the Russian vaccine to the country.

For his part, Mario Alberto Ishii, mayor of the Jose Clemente Paz county, said that the vaccine had caused no serious side effects among medical workers who had been inoculated so far. "I think that the Russian vaccine is truly a great success," he said.

Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine was the first COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in Argentina. On December 29, the country began to inoculate its medical workers with the Russian vaccine. Argentine President Alberto Fernandez and Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner are among those vaccinated with Sputnik V.
