Six suspects detained in Crimea for alleged involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir

The organization is outlawed as terrorist in Russia

SIMFEROPOL, February 17. /TASS/. Six people suspected of participating in the activities of the Hizb-ut Tahrir terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia, have been detained in Crimea, a regional law enforcement source told TASS on Wednesday.

"They are suspected of violating Articles 205.2 and 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (promotion of terrorist activities, public calls for terrorist activities and public justification and propaganda of terrorism). The six were apprehended in Simferopol, Belogorsk, Bakhchysarai and the Sovetsky district," the source said.

Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, in turn, specified that one of the suspects had been detained in the Orlovka settlement in the city of Sevastopol. "Searches began at 04:00 am, six people were detained. They are charged with participating in the activities of Hizb-ut Tahrir," the lawyer said.
