Russia in talks with 50 states on providing anti-coronavirus vaccine
Sputnik V has been authorized for use in more than 20 countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said
MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Russia is in talks with about 50 countries on providing the anti-coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin told TASS in an interview.
"The highly effective and safe product Sputnik V, created in our country, is being used in Russia on the massive scale and has been authorized for use in more than 20 countries. It looks like by the middle of February this list will grow to 25. Negotiations on providing the vaccine are underway with about 50 states," he said.
Pankin stressed that Russia joined the global efforts to fight against the coronavirus pandemic at early stages by providing assistance to some individual countries and through cooperation via international organizations.
"We are determined to step up this work and to offer all interested partners our products in the field of vaccination against the coronavirus," Pankin said.
He recalled that Moscow was cooperating with the World Health Organization for the purpose of including Sputnik V in the list of medical products to be used in emergencies.
"In this way we advance cooperation in different formats, which, to my mind is the most effective tactic amid the continuing pandemic. This concerns the promotion of other Russian anti-coronavirus vaccines to the world market, too," he concluded.
