Navalny to remain in detention center until verdict enters into force

Before being transported to a prison, he will be allowed a short meeting with family members or other people

MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS/. Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny will remain in custody in a detention center before the court ruling to convert his suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case for real prison time enters into force, judge Natalya Repnikova announced the verdict in the Moscow City Court.

"The court has decided to place Navalny in custody until the decision to change his suspended sentence for a real one comes into force," she said.

Navalny will be in custody until an appeal, if filed, is heard. Before being transported to a prison, he will be allowed a short meeting with family members or other people. The opposition figure will serve his sentence in a medium-security prison.
