Yulia Navalnaya, wife of Alexey Navalny, fined for taking part in unlawful rally
The detained Russian blogger's wife marched to the detention facility in Moscow where her husband is being held as part a procession
MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. Moscow’s Shcherbinsky Court has fined Yulia Navalnaya, wife of detained Russian blogger Alexey Navalny, to the tune of 20,000 rubles (approximately $264) for taking part in an unsanctioned rally on Sunday, the court’s press service informed TASS.
"The court ruled to find Yulia Navalnaya guilty under Part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences (Taking part in an unsanctioned gathering, rally, demonstration, procession that hindered the functioning of transport or social infrastructure) and issued her a fine to the tune of 20,000 rubles," the court informed.
On Sunday, Navalnaya was detained during an unsanctioned procession to the detention facility in Moscow where her husband is being held. She was also detained during the January 23 rally, but was later let go without any charges pressed.
The Russian Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office have repeatedly warned citizens of liability for taking part in unsanctioned rallies.
