Hainan's Haikou to launch mobile PCR-testing laboratory
The new mobile laboratory will be combined with a genomic sequencing module
HAIKOU, January 29. /TASS/. The Haikou authorities have ordered the creation of a new mobile laboratory for PCR testing to detect coronavirus. According to www.prcfe.com, installation work is already coming to an end and the laboratory will start functioning in the near future.
Inside, the laboratory is divided into areas for reagent and sample preparation, amplification analysis and high pressure disinfection. After commissioning, the personnel will be able to perform about 6,000 PCR tests per day, when checking by the method of composite samples, about 60,000 people can be checked daily. The test results are processed within six hours and provided on the day of sampling.
The new mobile laboratory will be combined with a genomic sequencing module. Thus, if a positive result is detected in a mobile PCR laboratory, the genomic sequence of the virus will be analyzed in detail and classified.
Additional laboratory facilities will appear in Haikou against the backdrop of massive travel by Chinese residents ahead of the Chinese New Year (Chunjie, Spring Festival), which will take place on February 12. At this time, there is an internal migration of the population in China: Chinese residents go to their homeland, visit relatives and friends, and then return to their place of work or study. This is a potentially dangerous time for the spread of infectious diseases.
Since the outbreak of coronavirus in China at the end of 2019, only 171 cases of infection have been recorded on Hainan, doctors have cured 165 patients, and six people have died from the effects of infection. There are currently no COVID-19 patients in the province.
