MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Seven criminal investigations are underway in Moscow following the recent unauthorized rally, the Main Moscow Department of the Russian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Main Moscow Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee continues to investigate seven cases concerning various offences, including attacks on law enforcement officers during the unauthorized rally that took place in Moscow on January 23. Offences committed by the rally’s participants fall under Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code (violence against state officials)," the statement reads.

Since coronavirus restrictions remain in effect in Moscow, police officers have been informed that the rally involved people infected with COVID-19 who had been ordered to self-isolate. A probe is underway in this regard.

The Moscow police said earlier that four cases had been opened under Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code, and an investigation was underway under Article 167 (property damage) and Article 213 (hooliganism) following an attack on a car belonging to the Federal Security Service (FSB). Four people have been detained for assaulting law enforcement officers and another one for attacking the FSB car.
