Moscow Prosecutor’s Office sends warnings to January 31 rally organizers, social media
According to the spokeswoman, organization of an unauthorized public event and participation in it entails responsibility
MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Moscow Prosecutor’s Office sent warnings to organizers of January 31 unauthorized rallies and five internet companies that disseminate calls for participation, the Office spokeswoman, Lyudmila Nefyodova told journalists Thursday.
She disclosed that publications calling on citizens - minors included - for participation in January 31 rallies, organized in violation of the legal procedure, were discovered in the Internet, including in social networks.
"In order to prevent potential violation of law, Moscow Prosecutor’s Office sent warnings to the management of five Russian and foreign Internet companies," Nefyodova said. "Besides, six people calling for participation in an unauthorized public event <...> were warned that illegal activities are unacceptable."
The spokeswoman recalled that "dissemination, as well as provision of technical capacities for dissemination of information with calls on citizens - minors included - to participate in unauthorized public events and mass riots poses a threat of violation of public order and public security." Besides, organization of an unauthorized public event and participation in it entails responsibility.
Sympathizers of convicted blogger Alexey Navalny earlier took to social networks to call for rallies in his support on January 31.
